I was visiting with a neighbor last night and he was telling me he was having some sickness trouble. Pinkeye. He said they have doctored about 50 head now and have a few blind ones because of it. The weird thing is that it is not horn flies causing it. He says there are something like house flies attacking his cattle and just hanging around their heads. They are going to get them all in and spray them for flies to try and kill them.
This is really weird. I have seen a lot of flies on cattle before but never large house style flies. Usually just horn flies. One of the things I never worry about much is flies. For some reason I don't have too much trouble with them. You see a few on the cows and calves but not too many. Right across the fence there will be cattle that are just infested with flies. I've always wondered what the difference is. Why do mine have so few? Is there some genetic component to this?
It's been years since we have used any kind of pesticide to control them and now there are very few. Is this the reason why? The flies and there competitors haven't been getting killed off so they have reached an equilibrium state? I don't know for sure but if you are doing something right, don't screw with it.
I sure hope my neighbor gets his fly problem and pinkeye under control. Stuff like that is miserable to deal with.

Couple accused of sex abuses
The sickness that is out there in some people just astounds me. Some how these people felt it was "right" to hold this young girl captive and abuse her for 16 years. That takes a sickness I am not ready to try to contemplate. As you see I do have a solution for this sickness.
The way people treat each other sometimes really makes me wonder about the human race. Then to do such despicable acts and bring the concept of God into it really hurts
Now, this sickness and this death and all these things that happen here on earth are not necessary. It's totally out of harmony, coordination precision and discipline. Sun Ra
A Heron man who authorities say claimed he was God has been charged with a string of sex offenses after a family member recounted being abused and held in virtual isolation from society for years.
James D. Guill, 54, faces charges alleging six sex offenses. His common-law wife, Nicole Christensen Guill, 36, also is charged with four sex offenses. Both are being held on $1 million bail pending appearances in District Court later this week. They initially declined public defenders at a court hearing last week. It was not clear Tuesday whether they had hired private attorneys.
Sanders County Attorney Bob Zimmerman said more charges against the two are likely.
The two were arrested after the victim, now 22, told authorities she had escaped from the family property, where she claimed to have been sexually abused by Guill since the age of 6, court records said.
