Prejudice

This kind of vandalism/prejudice is not necessary. It just shows the world how ignorant some people are. I have in my life been prejudiced against certain people, which I picked up from family, but I have tried real hard to overcome it and feel I have. I have also lived in places where some people were prejudiced against me so I also know how it feels.
n
nThe ironic thing about all this is an incident at my daughters school at the beginning of the year. The school she goes to has a high Indian population and when school started the kids filed in to the homeroom and sat down. The teacher, a Crow Indian, said, "I see that the Indian kids are on one side of the room and all the white kids are on the other side of the room. Anybody want to tell me why this is?" One of my daughters good friends responded "because their prejudiced against us" as she pointed at the Indians. The room was dead silent for a moment and then the teacher responded, "you're exactly right." This came from an Indian herself.
n
nI have heard the same sentiment that I stated above from more than one Indian. My point is there is two sides to the coin and we need to look at both of them to solve the problem.
n
nPrejudice is the child of ignorance. William Hazlitt
