Land Grab

The Zimbabwe Government for over a year has been seizing land from white property owners and turning it over to the black people of the nation and has succeeded in destroying the most agriculturally productive land in Africa. In doing all this the country has went from a net food exporter to a net food importer. Now this same government has decided to <a href="http://www.nzherald.co.nz/storydisplay.cfm?storyID=3571669&thesection=news&thesubsection=world">nationalize all land</a> whether it is owned by blacks or whites. It is simply unbelievable to me that any sane person would do such a thing since it has been shown time and time again that private ownership of land leads to the most productive use of the land.<br />n<br />n<i>"Effectively, this means it is no longer possible for any person to use land or any building on that land – be it a house or factory – as collateral to borrow money from banks as it is classified as state land," said a Government economist, speaking on condition of anonymity.<br />n<br />n"There is no better and quicker way of destroying an economy. I frankly don't know who advised them on this unacceptable step."<br />n<br />nRobertson said the move would effectively stop any new foreign investment in Zimbabwe. It would also freeze all economic growth, as no one would have collateral to borrow money and develop their business. </i><br />n<br />nI guess the Zimbabwe Government has never studied their history and know this is a way not to do things.
