She was 15 years old and has been sick for a while now with kidney failure which advanced to the point that the best thing we could do was put her to sleep. It was a very hard thing for me to do.
n
nMy Darling Wife and I got Ivory within a month of being married. She has been part of our life for our whole marriage up to now which is one of the reasons this is hard for me. We had her spayed right away since raising kittens was never a goal for us. I think Ivory would have been a good mother though. She loved all our kids and would lay with them and protect them when they were young. Her goal until the end of her life was to get the boy to pay attention to her and allow her to lay with him. She never completely accomplished this, but if she would have had another couple of months I think she would have won and got it done. She was persistent in slowly getting closer to him and closer to him. She was very patient with him and when he would over react and throw her away from him, she would not get mad but slowly try again to get close to him. Because of her efforts the boy does now acknowledge animals more than ever before and will actually pet and try to kiss them now.
n
nIvory for the first 10 years of her life was not a big fan of men in any way shape or form. She tolerated me but never liked me well. Like a fungus though, I grew on her over time and she finally come to like me. In fact in her last year I would say I was her human and she preferred my company over any other. I figured the us old ones needed to stick together and that is why she liked me.
n
nIvory will be sorely missed by the whole family. Good bye Ivory, I love you.
