You might remember my picture of the Replacements the other day. Cute little buggers if you ask me. Well last night when we went to check on them we got a little surprise. Laying all sprawled out in the pen with them was Mittens. He looked up at me as to say, "thanks for the buffet, they are good tasting little buggers. Which color should I eat next?"
Sure enough, instead of the 23 chicks there were early in the morning, there was only 19 left. I looked around the barn and sure enough, found a hole I hadn't patched up which had allowed him entry to the barn. I patched it and hopefully will keep him out now. I kick myself, not the cat, over this one. Mittens was just being a cat and eating some tasty morsels. I should have done a better job of cat proofing the barn for the chicks. This is the first time something like this has happened and hopefully the last.
Hope is the only good that is common to all men; those who have nothing else possess hope still. Thales
