One of the enduring mysteries about living in Montana is why the national media doesn't recognize we exist. Parts of southern Montana just received a fairly large storm which included much snow but I didn't see a thing about it in the national media until the exact same system started dumping snow on the Midwest. Maybe someday I will understand this mystery.
Mystery is in the morning, and mystery in the night, and the beauty of mystery is everywhere; but still the plain truth remains, that mouth and purse must be filled. Herman Melville

I kinda like the fact that they look over us. If they make mention of us, more people will come...and stay. Our precious ranchlands will be subdivided, sold, then we will have 'neighborhoods', red lights, stores everywhere.

I live near Dallas and have friends in Whitefish and I was wondering the same thing last week: we didn't hear anything about the weather there. You could always say the reason Montana doesn't slide off to the north pole is because the rest of the country sucks.

Amigo, try living in Hawai'i. We have the highest gas prices in the country, but the news media consistently says California does. It's like statehood never happened.

You're exactly right, I remember such things from when I was stationed there while I was in the Navy. You would even hear tourists say they were going home to the states when they were done with their vacation in Hawaii. I always thought Hawaii was one of the states.
