I wonder how much of the revenue being put into Montana is from wealthy out-of-stater's, who start companies, hire employees, and have lovely homes built that bring an increase in property taxes, thus making it harder for 3rd and 4th generation farmers to pay their property taxes because of the up-grade...I certainly saw this in the Flathead Valley over by Kalispell.
I read the article and to promulgate that the increase in state income is a result of the Martz mis-administration would be a misrepresentation at best. Most of the growth came from the addition of jobs within the mining sector and from new home construction. One could make an argument that the majority of new home construction in the Gallatin Valley isn't exactly for existing Montanans but for those coming here from someplace else.
