Theres no question that blog popularity is spreading by leaps and bounds. But as of late February, when this poll was conducted, only 3% of Americans said they read blogs every day. Fewer than one in six, 15%, read blogs at least a few times a month.
The numbers are so significant as to boggle the mind. What influence bloggers have over the American public. I personally don't want any influence. I just enjoy it but the article really points out blogging is a very minor thing.
Popularity? It's glory's small change. Victor Hugo

Having said that, I truly believe there are tons of narcissists out there who like to believe in their own self-importance and "contribution" to some kind of national political discussion that seems only to be happening in their little world of make believe. Some blogs of this genre even exist here in Montana :-} The name dropping, links to articles they have written elsewhere, and organizations to which they have an association ,are tediously boorish and I think represents more their own inherent insecurity than anything meaningful to political discourse.
Good article though, thanks for the link. Now if you'd do us all a favor and send it off to Judy Woodruff at CNN and Ron Reagan and Monica Crowley at MSNBC the world might just be a better place, and you might indeed have a little influence
Mike
BTW, how much precip you getting today?
So far we only have wind, no wet.
I read three blogs each day including Sarpy and DW. I read mostly conservative bloggs because of my beliefs. Blogging is used to express another side of a story felt by the person doing the blog. This is not insecurity other than the fact that you maybe unknown, not a face on a byline or on a TV screen.
Right off the bat you can figure out the lean of a blog, Sarpy has given me a lot of info about Montana, life on a farm (hard or easy). A state I was able to travel in one time over four days. I loved the place and continue through the pictures and interesting places Sarpy and WD take me.
Sorry Mike but I think this is the place of the future. So many people talking about so much, providing links to all kinds of information. For instance do you know in New South Whales a man was just turned loose by a judge for murder, DNA evidence, confession, witnesses, etc. and their is a law there that is you have to much evidence it is detrimental to the defendant to have to much evidence.
It's all out there keep looking.
While I agree that there are some surpurlative blogs out there, TMN and KarbonKountyMoos being at the very top of my list (perhaps I'll somewhat lamely attempt to join them one day) I would say that the majority of Montana bloggers are high above the rest of the nation in quality, which is, afterall, what keeps us coming back, no?
