I found this over at Wizbang and as you would expect it piqued my attention. I have read that there was a theory that brain swelling might cause autism and this seem to prove it.
The researchers say it might eventually be possible to develop a diagnostic test for autism based on looking for signs of inflammation - and that treating this inflammation might reduce the symptoms of autism.
Where this will lead I don't know but any progress forward on this problem makes my heart feel good.

I don't remember any fevers when Larry was small and ni virus.
Note to Bob Mac. You can have brain inflammation without any outward signs of it. I know from personal experience. Heck, even TELLING the docs what I was experiencing wasn't acknowledged until outward damage became apparent (doesn't show up on an MRI, for instance) about roughly a year later.
