I am a little young to have been around for the golden age of radio but I do remember hearing some of the shows. My Kim Komando cool site of the day tip lead me to RadioLovers.com which has all kinds of old time radio shows free to listen to. Go give it a whirl, it's really interesting.
Radio invented a new kind of drama called soap opera, a form of serial in which the main rule was, "Don't let anything happen!"-because if something happened on a Wednesday and you were at the dentist, on Thursday you wouldn't know what the hell was going on and you'd get mad and switch soap operas, and soap, too.
