The whole idea of public employees giving endorsements to candidates for public office have always bothered me. But this one really bothers me. I realize as citizens they have opinions but what right do they have to endorse people. The only thing that this causes for me is to be suspicious of who public employees endorse and maybe not vote for them so in a way it might be backfiring.

Federal employees are hatched (under the Hatch Act) which bans this kind of thing. And I agree with you. I prefer the current court to the one we used to have where you could always tell how the decisions would come down, on the side of the big money. Of course, my comment could cost somebody votes, too.

Personally, I find the reasons MHP endorses these folks to be informative. MHP seems only to be saying "We're the worker bees, and these two people let us know - clearly - what the rules are that we're supposed to follow". Knowing that, I consider myself better informed. The endorsement itself means diddly to me, however.
