I always like to learn something new and interesting, that's why I really like the Internet and the access it gives me to information. Sometimes the information is important and other times the information is more trivial like an item I run across today.
What is the largest church in Alaska?
The Russian Orthodox church of all things. In a way it's not suprising knowing history, but I had never considered before that the Russian church had established roots in Alaska before it was sold to the US. Like I say, trivial but interesting.
I like the trivial, vulgar and exalted. J V Cunningham

I lived in Fairbanks for 4 years and never thought about Russian churches until I flew to Kodiak Island on a plane filled with women dressed in Russian "peasant" garb. I visited the local R.O. church and it was a real beauty complete with graveyard and markers with dates from the 1800s. Now, when I think of Alaska, I don't just think of dog mushers and gold miners.
