Turtle



A fairly rare sight around here. Big, old Snapping turtle. Normally you see them near water but this one was quite a ways away from any. Must be traveling to a new watershed. Taken 06/27/2008.

I don't think I have ever seen a "wild" turtle. Kind of hard to call anything that slow wild!

I wish we had such beasts roaming wild here in the UK. We do have quite a lot of wild deer round my part though.

Wow! I've never seen one here in Montana. We had one for a pet when I was a kid. You know, back in the neolithic era.

I found you via ..Another day on the Prairie...When we were on a ranch in MT we saw these all the time. Never since, until 2 months ago..here in WA..it was in my yard heading out the fence! They can move faster than you think! Long ways from the creek, not sure how he got up here, but was headed quickly back down through the horse corrals and pasture!
I think they are neat to watch!
