Nests



I know it is a little hard to see, but there is a bunch of mud bird nests in these rocks. I had never seen so many in this particular spot before. Taken 6/13/2007.

Great Picture Sam. It is surprising to see the birds nesting there in the sand rock.

Easy prey for snakes that have a fondness for bird eggs though, and we all know that snakes just love sand rock formations.

They might be cliff swallows. They build mud nests in colonies. If no cliffs are available, they'll settle for the underside of a bridge.

I always call them mud swallows but what they actually are I don't know. They aren't cows or horses and that is about all this cowboy knows.
