I'm sure everybody has heard about the tragedy at Virginia Tech. Right away on the Internet I read stuff about how this tragedy was caused by the ability of Americans to own guns and then read articles about how this tragedy was caused by people not being able to freely carry guns. Let's keep our eye on the ball here. This tragedy was caused by one one crackpot who killed 33 people. Why everybody wants to make this about guns is beyond me. Using such a tragedy for a political agenda is wrong.

You say it so much more succinctly and politely that I can. I'm just furious at how reactionary and need driven we are as a people.

Well said....I read that a law allowing concealed carry on campuses in Virginia, including VT, was defeated recently. Wonder if fewer would have died if it had been passed.

One thing i thought was interesting about the gun issue: They said that the guns had their serial numbers filed off - but they also said that they found in his backpack, on this person, a receipt for one of the guns, dated 9 March. So, what's the point of filing off the serial numbers, if you carry the receipt with you??

Students were prohibited from bringing firearms on campus -- it was supposed to be a gun-free zone. See how laws prevent criminals from getting guns?
