This just shows how Gov. Brian Schweitzer and the state's Democrats do not support the largest segment of the agricultural industry in Montana, cattle production. I guess the goal is to drive all cattle producers out of Montana if the weather doesn't do it first. For the record I am not a member or supporter of the Montana Stockgrowers Association, but an a member of the Montana Cattlemen's Association, so I am not part of what Gov. Brian Schweitzer believes to be some sinister, evil plot to block Stan Boone's nomination.
This also shows how vindictive Gov. Brian Schweitzer can be. Now he is going on a McCarthy style witch hunt against those Brand Inspectors who had the moral courage to oppose Boone's nomination. I guess freedom of speech isn't allowed in the Schweitzer administration.

I attended a Board of Livestock meeting a while back, the January 29 one that they STILL have not approved the minutes of (probably for good reason!). Strangest thing I've seen in a while...
Many feel that the Board of Livestock had turned into basically a rogue entity. I've been told the Stockgrowers have run that Board as their own private fiefdom for a century or so now, and it shows. Their arrogance is... it's not breathtaking, it's disgusting.
But then what is it with groups like MSGA and R-Calf lately? Looks to me like there's some pretty serious discord in the troops, Sam. Perhaps some of the more reasonable folks are growing disenchanted with the Old Guard, hmmm?
So I can easily see how MSGA, et al, could get crosswise with Schweitzer. They liked Gramma Judy a lot better. She was from the Right party, you know, not to mention a lapdog and all. With that said, I'm in no sense giving the Governor a blanket endorsement, as the shine has definitely faded in a few spots.
I do like his appointment of Becky Weed to the BOL, though, and Bill Hedstrom seems a decent sort also. I really don't think they're out to "drive all cattle producers from Montana". Good grief...
But hey, I don't blame you for being crabby. 'Tis the season.
