Okay, this is ridiculous. It's the 8th of March and it's raining here. The ground is still frozen underneath and there is still snow and ice around in places. Adding rain to this slushy, muddy, icy, miserable ground we have around here is not necessary. It just makes the cattle, My Darling Wife, and me miserable.
Man is only miserable so far as he thinks himself so. Jacopo Sannazaro
Lastly, WHEN HAVE YOU EVER HEARD ME ASK FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO PAY FOR ANYTHING WHEN IT COMES TO DROUGHT OR FLOOD OR ANY OTHER DISASTER ON MY PLACE!!!
I might report what other farmers and ranchers are whining for in the way of aid but I always make it clear that I am not asking or lobbing for any kind of aid. Don't get me wrong, if the government offers a disaster program that I qualify for I apply, it would be foolish not to, but I never run around or here in my blog ask for one. It's too much like begging for me and I can't in good conscience do it.
I would rather get the ground thawed before all the moisture. That way I will store it instead of sending it down the Yellowstone to the Missouri and out of state. It doesn't do me, or anybody else in Montana, much good when it's out of state.
Moderation in all things, including rain and dry weather.
