Less beef consumed as prices go higher. Duh, hasn't the person that wrote this ever heard of the simple economic principle of supply and demand. I ain't even college educated and I understand that one. I have to admit though, that even with the BSE scare it has been a good year for beef producers and it is shaping up to be another good year, if we get the moisture to grow some grass.
Previous cyclical booms in the beef business have benefited meatpackers and retailers while leaving ranchers with little additional benefit.
I would agree, a little better trickle down has occurred this time and making everybody in the industry smile a little more.
