Laugh Line
I thought I would bust a gut laughing when I read this news headline.
Biden Says Stimulus Won't Include Earmarks
That's the funniest thing I've seen in a long time.

Tired
This weather we have had lately really has me down. The paper says that we have had only nine days in a row with temperatures that have not been above 27 degrees. They must really live in a banana belt. It hasn't got above 10 degrees around here in that same time frame and we have been as cold as 30 below. I am tired of this cold weather. It really drains it out of me and the cattle. It's real tough on things.

Parenting
I know, with things the way they are I should be talking the economy or politics but this really caught my attention.
This struck me as so true. I've been in a lot of life threatening situations in my life, but raising kids is the hardest and scariest thing I have ever done. There is nothing going on right now different than normal that brings this on. It's just a statement of fact. You never know how what you say or do is going to affect your children and any little thing can affect them positively or negatively in ways you would never predict.
I always hear people without children say how easy it is to raise children. They always say you just tell them what to do and they should do it. If only it were that easy. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying a person shouldn't raise kids, but it definitely isn't as easy as people think it is.
There is no harder job than parenting. There is no human relationship with such potential for great achievement and awful destructiveness, and despite all the experts who write about it, no one has the slightest idea whether any decision will be right or best or even not-horrible for any particular child. It is a job that simply cannot be done right.

Money Supply
With the governments bailout of the financial sector for $700 Billion, the proposed auto bailout for a measly $15+ Billion and Obama's proposed economic stimulus package of who knows how many Billion, am I the only one worried about what is going to happen when all the money that is being printed by the Government for these bailouts get into the economy? One look at Zimbabwe and you see what happens when the government runs the printing presses throwing more money into the economy. Hyper-inflation.
It actually turns out I am not the only one worried.
I know, I worry too much but this really has me concerned. What is going to be the cost to us of all these bailouts and economic stimulus? Will the cost be too high? How can we protect ourselves? I wish I knew the answers to these things.
It actually turns out I am not the only one worried.
But economists have warnings for Obama’s public works stimulus plans as well as the bailouts. That includes some economist worried, though they are split, that the bailouts, liquidity infusions and stimulus outlays — which now total $8.5 trillion — could result in inflation and a weakened dollar.
Peter Schiff, an economist and chief global strategist for Connecticut-based Euro Pacific Capital, worries the bailout and stimulus money could result in hyper-inflation because of all the money being pushed into the economy by central banks and the federal government. Schiff worries the markets and consumers could lose confidence in the U.S. dollar.
“It’s very easy for the public to lose confidence, especially when the government is printing too much of it, which is what is happening in our economy. The government is trying to create additional consumer spending and they are trying to do it by printing more money,” Schiff told Toronto-based IWT-Real News Network.
Schiff, who predicted the current financial and subprime downturns, said a worst-case scenario would be an inflation-fueled depression of the U.S. economy.
Hyper-inflation occurs when prices rise as currency values and confidence diminish. Hyper-inflation has periodically hit Third World economies such as the present situation in Zimbabwe and in post World War I Europe including Germany.
I know, I worry too much but this really has me concerned. What is going to be the cost to us of all these bailouts and economic stimulus? Will the cost be too high? How can we protect ourselves? I wish I knew the answers to these things.

Values
In the past year, 30 percent of U.S. high school students have stolen from a store and 64 percent have cheated on a test
Are these numbers better than they used to be, worse than they used to be or what? I don't know but there is more troubling information in this story.
93 percent of the students said they were satisfied with their personal ethics and character, and 77 percent affirmed that "when it comes to doing what is right, I am better than most people I know."
This is what is really scary. Even though they lie, cheat and steal, they still think they are good people. HOW IN THE WORLD DO THEY FIGURE THIS? How has our society degenerated so that you can think you are a good person even if you lie, cheat and steal?
Another perfect example of how our society has no values any more and its anything goes. I guess we don't have to wonder why there are so many criminals in either government or industry. We breed them.
