Yet another Internet Explorer flaw to beware of. This one could result in more phishing scams. The culprit that causes this. The ActiveX control yet again. If at all possible you should really look at Firefox for web browsing. It, at the moment, is a lot more secure than IE.

Beware
Meatpackers
You have heard me complain more than once the big meatpackers control the cattle orginazations and many Senators and CongressCritters. I knew, but never talked about yet, that they also had thier way with the USDA, a major department of the Federal Government. It looks like somebody is finally blowing the whistle on this conspiracy between the Big Meatpackers and the Government. I wish them luck but I bet they will get nowhere.
A local Montana boy has taken on the USDA over its collusion with the Big Meatpackers and what did he get for his trouble? Closed down and put out of buisness. He is fighting back but he has a pretty high fence to climb to fight such a powerful combination. I hope these federal meat inspectors get thier message out and some action taken on it. It would help us all.
The government is huge, stupid, greedy and makes nosy, officious and dangerous intrusions into the smallest corners of life-this much we can stand. But the real problem is that government is boring. We could cure or mitigate the other ills Washington visits on us if we could only bring ourselves to pay attention to Washington itself. But we cannot. P.J. O'Rourke

Tree
Yesterday we went out and got our Christmas tree. My Christmas fiend (youngest daughter) went with me and every one else stayed home. The trees on the place were awful dry but we finally found one that would work and cut it down. I personally like a cedar tree for a Christmas tree but they are next to death due to the drought so I had to settle for a Ponderosa Pine. This drought has been so long I don't remember when the last time I was able to get a cedar tree but it was a while ago.
Once home and installed in our adobe, everybody commenced to decorating it. Even the boy got into decorating this year and wanted to take part. He didn't have enough finger dexterity to hang the ornaments himself so mom helped him but it was good to see him helping and getting involved.
I have been having a hard time getting into the Christmas spirit this year so I have been concentrating on the Spirit of Christmas hoping it would lead me to the festive mood. I hoped setting up a tree would lead me further along in the Christmas spirit and it worked, in a way I never anticipated.
Having an autistic child is a lot like dealing with a death for me. You go from having normal expectations for your child to having completly different expectations which are completly different for your child. I have dealt with this fairly well over the past year and a half but occassionally I still have to grieve for the lost expectations and dreams I had for my son. I think this was my problem this year cause last night I sat and cried for our, my sons and mine, lost expectations and dreams. I guess at this time of year I needed to grieve and did. I still sometimes need this but not as often as I used to. Just like all grieving it was like a weight lifted from my shoulders and acceptance of the situation followed.
I am in more of a Christmas spirit now and I feel better about my situation and the world. Like I said, the tree helped in a way that was not expected but it helped. Merry Christmas to all, it will be here.
Christmas is not a time or a season but a state of mind. To cherish peace and good will, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas. If we think on these things, there will be born in us a Savior and over us will shine a star sending its gleam of hope to the world. Calvin Coolidge

Nightmare
There is a lot of things out there in the world that can happen to a person or thier family. I do my best to not worry about these things but I have one thing in particular that gives me nightmares when I think about it.
Search continues for missing 9-year-old autisitc boy
The thought of my boy just up and wandering off, particularly at night, just scares the shit out of me. The girls knew better but the boy being autistic just doesn't understand and being non-verbal, we're making progress there, it is very difficult to find him if he is hiding. This is my personal nightmare and my heart goes out to this family.
There are but two means of escaping and forgetting this nightmare: pleasure and work. Pleasure consumes us. Work strengthens us. Let us choose. Charles Baudelaire

Swedish
A little girl came home from Sunday School one day and informed her mother, "Jesus was from Sweden."
The mother asked her, "Jesus was the son of David which would make him Jewish."
The little girl responded, "I know he's from Sweden, my Sunday School teacher told us so."
"What exactly did this teacher tell you" the mom responded.
"She taught us a song and it goes like this," responded the girl.
"Away in a manger no room for a bed.
The little Lord Jesus laid down his Swede head."
It has always surprised me how little attention philosophers have paid to humor, since it is a more significant process of mind than reason. Reason can only sort out perceptions, but the humor process is involved in changing them. Edward de Bono

Blessing
The light of the Christmas star to you. The warmth of home and hearth to you. The cheer and good will of friends to you. The hope of a childlike heart to you. The joy of a thousand angels to you. The love of the Son and God's peace to you.

Gripe
I am so tired of hearing "Happy Holidays." What is wrong with "Merry Christmas?" Like it or not that is what the holiday is so deal!
MERRY CHRISTMAS
We consider Christmas as the encounter, the great encounter, the historical encounter, the decisive encounter, between God and mankind. He who has faith knows this truly; let him rejoice. Pope Paul VI

Yuletide
A whole new meaning to the word Yuletide.

Free
Microslosh can find a way to make a buck on anything and with their name recognition it usually works for them since people don't know better. It seems like now they are going to offer tools for removing spyware and are going to charge people for it. A little searching finds a very good spyware removal tool called Spybot which, from personal experience, does an excellent job at removing spy ware at a price that can't be beat. It's free. Yes, I said its free and does an excellent job so why does Microslosh need to come out with one that isn't. Because they can.

Feed
The US is considering starting to let cattle come into the US again from Canada again but a news story I read this morning makes me wonder about it.
Cattle Feed Contaminated With Animal Parts, Canadian Paper Says
Feeding practices are the main way BSE is contracted and spread so maybe this whole situation needs looked into a little bit better before we open the border up. Who cares if Cuba is allowing in Canadian beef again after the Previous scare. We don't have to follow thier lead.

Fly
I have always wondered how Santa and the reindeer flew. Now I know.
A real long ride!
Santa Claus has the right idea - visit people only once a year. Victor Borge
A deputy who works at the school found the marijuana while searching the coat for identification after a teacher found it in the bathroom. The man dressed as Santa approached the deputy a short time later and identified the coat.
The man denied the pot was his. His wife, who was at the school to take pictures of Santa with the students, apparently did not know the marijuana was in her husband's coat, officials said.
"She was not happy," Lt. Paul Jones said. "It's going to be a long ride back to the North Pole."

Leroy
Leroy The Redneck Reindeer. A humorous Christmas tune by Joe Diffie. An elementary school in Texas was going to perform this tune for their Christmas pageant when one parent objected. The problem?
Yes, mention of the "Dixie flag" means the song is racist according to this parent.
I don't know that I have heard this song so in case I was missing something I looked up the lyrics. I don't see anything "racist" in the song at all. It seems like somebody is just out to make waves because they can. I really think somebody needs to take a real close look at who is being "ignorant" here.
Ignorant kindness may have the effect of cruelty; but to be angry with it as if it were direct cruelty would be an ignorant unkindness. George Eliot
A portion of the lyrics say, "Santa wrapped his bag with a Dixie flag, he was having the time of his life."
Yes, mention of the "Dixie flag" means the song is racist according to this parent.
Parent Jennifer Scott said, "I think it's ignorance, number one. Number two, it's very racist."

Thought
A day is 24 hours long.
A box of beer contains 24 bottles.
Is this a coincidence or is the world trying to tell me something?

Perceptions
Car salesperson, advertiser, lawyer, congressional leader, business executives and newspaper reporters. What does this unlikely list have in common? They are the nations nation's least-trusted professions according to a new survey. I don't do surveys at all but I would be curious to know if these professions were picked off a list or people came up with them on thier own. While I might not like many of them, the only one on this list that may have credence is the car salesman. Not a lot of trust in them from my corner.
Then I question why newspaper reportes are on the list. Why not TV broadcast reporters? I would trust a print reporter over a broadcast professional any day but I do think they all are ethical in what they do so I don't see why they made the list. I have been beating my head against the wall ever since i read this trying to think of a "profession" as a whole that I don't trust the ethics of. I have known enough good car salesmen that even if I consider car salesmen, I can't think of an entire profession that's unethical. All professions have people in them that lack ethics in them, but none are unethecal in total. Life just doesn't work that way. I guess everybody's perceptions are different and this just proves it.
Ethics is in origin the art of recommending to others the sacrifices required for cooperation with oneself. Bertrand Russell

Responsibility
I talk about personal responsibility and the importance of it quite a bit and this ranchers lack of it is a perfect example. I am just going on this news report and don't have the whole history at hand but he is getting what he deserves if he let cattle wander onto the highway after repeated warnings and didn't keep his fences up. I luckily don't have the problem of pastures along highways so its not something I have to worry about but some neighbors do and they say it's a pain.
This kind of attitude just show the lack of responsibility that I don't like. It's a callous disregard for life, people or cattle, and is criminal.
life is moral responsibility. Life is several other things, we do not deny. It is beauty, it is joy, it is tragedy, it is comedy, it is psychical and physical pleasure, it is the interplay of a thousand rude or delicate motions and emotions, it is the grimmest and the merriest motley of phantasmagoria that could appeal to the gravest or the maddest brush ever put to palette; but it is steadily and sturdily and always moral responsibility. Elizabeth Stuart Phelps
I don't care if my cows are hit by cars. I make more money claiming them on my insurance than selling them at the auction.
