Small Town Life

Recently Craig over at mtpolitics.net had a very good entry on Life in a Small Town. Well, the real world intrudes and gives us an addition to the list.

32. The first baby in the New Year, is born on the 21st of January.

Our neighbors daughter recently, you can guess the date, had a baby and it was big news in the town since it was the first this year. That's small town life.

Nap

I wish I knew what it meant when 27 degrees F seems like a nice summer day. I just got in from the barn and I thought it was 50 Degrees out, but it wasn't. A cow had just had a calf and I was sitting there watching it to make sure it got up and nursed and I fell asleep. The sun beating down on me and radiating off the fence made it real nice, warm and comfortable. The only thing that woke me up was a cow walking up and blocking the sun. Should just shoot her. It was the best rest I have had in a long time.

There is more refreshment and stimulation in a nap, even of the briefest, than in all the alcohol ever distilled. Ovid

P.S. The calf got up and nursed fine.

Relief

Ever since Sunday and the halftime "incedent" I have been laying awake at nights worrying about this. Boy it will sure let me sleep better at night knowing that I won't be exposed to such a sight on TV during the Summer Olympics.
