This particular pair kept hiding out on me as I was cleaning out the Williams place. The only proof I had she existed was this picture. I finally found here yesterday and got her out. Damn fine calf the old girl is raising. Taken 8/14/2006.
Of course, sometimes you throw a red with black angus but I don't think that is the case with this one. It has that look of a Limousine which my dad used in cross breeding quite a few years ago. Must be a throwback to that.
Isin't it a little early for silage? Good luck on getting it up.
It is early but it has been so hot and dry that the corn is maturing early and the best silage is cut when the ear is in the late milk stage. The field where they started is rocky and the bottom leaves on the stalk are starting to dry out. It is just a strange yeat. We started barley harvest more than a week earlier than we ever have and were completely done in July which has never happened before. Some of the neighbors have a third cutting of hay down and will probably get a fourth this year. With all the drought and fires, hay should be worth a good price this year. Needs to be as diesel fuel went up another 18 cents this week.
The chickens enjoying the warm sun and dry ground on the cement pad. They are really laying now. We are getting over a dozen eggs a day. Now to try to figure out what to do with all the eggs. Taken 1/4/2008.
Started cutting silage yesterday.
