I found this calf with foot rot yesterday and doctored him. It has been years since the last time I seen a calf with foot rot. I get it in the yearlings and cows on occasion, but calves, no. I'm keeping him and his mom close for a few days so i can hit him with medicine again to make sure he is cured. Taken 7/10/2006.
If you look at the picture you can note the back left foot is swollen and the calf is holding it and not putting weight on it. I give a dose, or two, of oxytetracycline and sulfa pills to get rid of it.
I doctored a cow and a bull today for the same thing. Quite a few all of a sudden, I don't know why. I will just keep my eyes open.
