I know it's very hard to see but it's the best shot I could get. There's a bear right in the middle of the picture going up the hill. It's been two years since I last saw a bear in this country. They are pretty scarce but occasionally you do see one. Taken 6/18/2006.
People living out in the country know just where to look, to find bears. At our campsite this weekend, people saw a bear up in the brush near a morraine. I got out my zoom lens on the video camera, to check him out. It is a rare site, indeed.
When Grandpa was still riding the range, a young cowbow spent a lot of money in Milescity to buy a set of fur chaps. As they were riding back out to Terry MT, there came a rain shower, when the chaps got wet the scent of bear came out of em and his horse got spooked and threw the young cowboy. Grndpa said it was a long walk for the lad and a good learning lesson.
We occationally have black bears come down from the north GA mountains and get lost in sub divisions. People just go beserk. What they tend to forget is that urban sprawl is encoruching on the bear's habitat and he has no where to go.

or google Bruno in the news tab.
My pals from the NPS say that there's a fair amount of overlap between the smartest bears and the dimmest human tourists.
I so enjoy your photos.
