An old election quip encourages the electorate "to vote early and often." Nowadays the first half of the maxim is legal and popular as a record number of voters cast their ballots before election day.
"It is a growing trend," said Duane Winslow, Yellowstone County election administrator.
Winslow said Thursday that absentee balloting in the county has already exceeded the record set two years ago in the Montana presidential primary.
I remembered when I read this I meant to mention this week that I had done my duty to the Republic by voting in the Primary while I was in town taking care of business. There must have been 10 people running for our local Sheriff position. That was a tough one to make a decision on. Otherwise it was pretty easy. I could probable list who I voted for and that would tell you who was going to lose. In the last 4 or 5 elections I don't think I have voted for a single candidate that has won. We will wait and see if that still holds true after this one.
