Weather gives fires early start
The fire season is off to an early start in parts of Montana, with the recent unseasonably warm weather helping dry out grasses and other possible fire fuels.
The past few days it is really starting to show that we could use a shot of rain. It's really getting dry out there. I thought for sure with my branding coming up Friday that there would be some moisture coming in. It always seems like if i scedule a branding it is like sceduling moisture but it doesn't look like it this year. Oh, there is a 20% chance of thunderstorms Friday night but the way things are going I won't get anything out of it.
Talk about a hot, dusty branding on Saturday. I am not looking forward to it. Damn the hot, dry weather. It's like we are living in Texas.
In Texas it's always hot, dry, sunny, not a cloud in the sky. Piper Perabo
Sarpy, I'm a couple hundred miles north of you and we are having the same- luckily had snowcover and early moisture to get the grass started but they are predicting 95 for today, which will dry things out fast..
Irrigating the hayfields now because the grass and alfalfa was getting a blue tinge- thank God we have irrigation water this year...
