In a statement released late Wednesday afternoon, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that Mexico will resume imports of U.S. bone-in beef from cattle less than 30 months of age. However, no official timetable for the resumption of trade has been made available.
Ag Secretary Mike Johanns was quoted as saying "Mexico's decision to further open its market to U.S. beef is a testament to the safety of U.S. beef and a clear expression of confidence in the U.S. safeguards to prevent BSE (bovine spongiform encephalography). As a NAFTA partner and our second largest export market, the normalization of beef trade with Mexico is great news for our farmers and ranchers."
Don't you just love it, they will resume imports but they don't specify when. Like I always say, every little bit helps but knowing when would be nice.
