The yearling heifers were sure glad to see the cake. They are looking really good but I figure it's time to give them an energy boost since they will be calving in a couple of months and their nutritional needs are going up pretty high right now.
The calves are the real impetus behind feeding a little. They are beginning to look a little rough and need the extra nutrition going into the winter. Once I get them going good on cake I will cut back on the hay for now but it's the only way I know to get their heads down looking at the cake. The horses in the background were not real happy they weren't getting fed.
They are doing fine except for one young horse and he is all ready at home getting some extra vittles to get him in good shape for the winter.
Feeding season is fast approaching. In a way I am looking forward to the daily grind of feeding and in a way I'm not. Oh, well, that's life.
In the clock's over-loud ticking we hear the mockery of light-years for the span of our existence. Theodor Adorno
