Well, I have a new hired hand again. I quit trying to find the perfect fit and hired someone that I feel can do the job and hopefully I can train to do the things he is weak in. He is more a general ranch hand/farmer but if he can sit a horse and help a little I can handle the cowboying myself. Truthfully, I don't expect him to stay very long.
When I first spoke with him about the job he said he was looking for a place that was closer to town so his wife could work. I inquired how far from town he was? He said 35 miles. I told him this wasn't the place for him because we were 40 miles from town so he was getting in worse shape. We visited a little more and I knew I would never hear from him again. A couple days later he called back and said he had talked it over with his wife and they were interested in the job. What the hell I thought, and interviewed him some more and decided he would work until he quit. Can't find the right one so have to hire someone you know.
He gave notice where he's at and said he would be here on the 30th. We'll see. At least it's another pair of hands.
Work consists of whatever a body is obliged to do. Play consists of whatever a body is not obliged to do. Mark Twain

I decided not to do it though. It would be a waste of my time and energy.
