Quake death toll climbs to 79,000
Amazing that people live in such conditions that this can happen. Somewhere I read that this is a minor temblor in the area and worse are expected. Life is such a fragile thing, enjoy while you can.

Earthquakes don't necessarily kill - the buildings and dwellings that collapse do it. Fragile mud brick dwellings are everywhere in this part of the world - local materials - and they are unsafe. Better to live in a tent than rebuild with mud-brick.
