Glutton For Punishment

Arkansas Mother Gives Birth to 16th Child

Can you say "Glutton for Punishment."

I have no problem with people having this many kids if that's what trips their trigger, but I sure hope they are supporting them and the state isn't picking up the tab for them. That's what upsets me in these situations. If you want that many kids, support them yourself, don't rely on the state.

You know, at or around child #7, I would have looked into having a zipper or maybe some sort of ziploc solution installed.

Although by child #7, it may not really matter anymore.

I read this and wondered about the woman's health. Women, of pioneer days, who had large families out of necessity, just didn't have a long life expectancy. Childbirth takes a toll, not to mention raising a lot of young children.

It must be the changing times, but it wasn't that long ago that something like this wouldn't have made the news. I went to high school just down the road in Miles City with a guy that had 16 siblings - and this was only 10-12 years ago. Heck, my aunt has 10, and if she keeps playing the Vatican Roulette she's probably going to have more....

You need to get the whole story. These people virge on wealthy...he sells real estate. They are building a 7000 sq. ft. house...and doing it themselves with all members of the family contributing to the construction process. They home school the children; everyone has chores/duties everyday. They are a deeply religious family. From the program on televsion last year, it would appear they could teach other families the meaning of familial cohesion/values/love...they are totally organized.

Excuse me Peggy, I never said that this family was being supported by the state. I just stated I don't like people that have big families and then support them with government programs like food stamps or medicare. If you are going to choose to have children you should support thrm, not the state.

Also as an aside just because he sells real estate doesn't mean he is wealthy. I know a lot of people who sell real estate that don't have a dime to their name.

I never passed a judgement on this family above and beyond she must be a glutton for punishment. I said whatever trips their trigger.

If they have all their ducks in the row as Peggy says, then I think the "J" names should be a piece of cake. ;-) Who am I to judge?
